SUNNYSIDE SCHOOL CURRICULUM
The teachers at Sunnyside School participate in the district curriculum review with all other district teachers. New materials and curriculum have been recently adopted in mathematics, science, social studies and health.

Arts Alive

Encourages students to develop and share their talents in both visual and performing arts. 

 
Spectrum
This is an after school enrichment program for gifted, talented and/or creative students in grades 2-6. The program focuses on the sciences and humanities.
 
Artist and Music Residency Programs
Students benefit from several artists and performers conducting workshops throughout the year.
 
Lyceums and Field Trips
Opportunities are provided throughout the year for students to participate in a variety of enrichment programs.
 
Author/Science Museum
Each year the PAC sponsors an author to visit and share his/her knowledge and experience with all students. The PAC has also sponsored the Science Museum staff to share a project with all classes.

 

Junior Great Books
Junior Great Books is a book discussion series available to any interested second grade students at Sunnyside.  Sessions are held weekly before school or during lunch.  This program is coordinated by Mrs. Richardson and run by parent volunteers.

I Love to Read
Each February, Sunnyside School celebrates I Love to Read month.  A faculty committee puts together many activities that take place throughout the month which focuses on developing each students personal enjoyment of reading. 

Character Education
A faculty committee plans and implements programs throughout the school  year which teach and reinforce positive character development.  Students are recognized for their efforts in the area of academics, behavior and overall improvement at the end of each quarter.
