Red Wing Schools participates in three levels of assessment practices: (1) formative and summative assessments at the individual classroom/grade/department level, (2) the Goodhue County Education District (GCED) Assessment Framework, and (3) the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) testing requirements.

The GCED Assessment Framework is based on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This approach emphasizes early identification of student strengths and areas of challenge and then subsequent and appropriate interventions/support for those areas. The two main assessment mechanisms for the GCED Assessment Framework are AIMSWeb and STAR. More information on these tests can be found by clicking on the appropriate links. The overall GCED Assessment Framework is summarized in the two documents below. In addition, more information on GCED Assessment can be found by going to the following website and clicking on "Assessment": http://www.literacydistrict.com/

The MDE-required tests include the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) and the EXPLORE, PLAN, and ACT tests. More information on these tests can be found by clicking on the appropriate links.
