Board to hold educational workshop session

The Red Wing School Board will tackle a host of topics – from supplemental online learning enrollment to the American Indian Parent Council’s resolution of non-concurrence – when members meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in Red Wing High School room J110.

This will be the new board’s first workshop session of the year, and Superintendent Bob Jaszczak will explain the process and educate the board – three of the seven members are new – on numerous issues as well as what they can expect at their Feb. 24 business meeting. The discussion will include the anticipated resolution regarding the district’s shortcomings in American Indian education.

Minnesota Statute 124D.78 outlines expectations for parent and community participation in the education program for American Indian students. Once the board receives the council’s resolution, the district has 60 days to respond.

The workshop will be recorded but not live streamed. The video will be posted to the RWPS YouTube channel later in the week as well as linked to the www.rwps.org homepage. Find the full workshop agenda on the BoardBook.
