Snow blankets the bluffs from which Twin Bluff Middle School gets its name.
The most compelling reason for closing schools is safety of students and employees
Red Wing Public Schools is committed to having students in school, but we know that weather – this is Minnesota, after all – and emergencies sometimes make canceling or altering the school schedule necessary.
The superintendent decides whether to delay school, cancel school or call an E-learning day based on the current circumstances. The district 2024-2025 district calendar allows for up to five E-learning days and two no-school or “snow” days.
How people will be notified of late starts, E-learning and school cancellations
The District’s primary notification measures are:
- Automated phone calls.
- The rwps.org homepage.
- District social media accounts.
Secondary measures may include four Twin Cities television stations and local media outlets.
Please note that Red Wing Public Schools cannot control the scheduling of any media outlet’s school announcements and there may be delays.
