Students must meet with high school counselors to determine eligibility and classes to be enrolled in while attending the program. Parents will complete the Credit Recovery Application with their child and return it to their counselor for signatures.

Attendance

Night School meets during the school year weekly and Summer School runs for 3 weeks in June. Students have a limited time period to make up courses, therefore attendance is expected. Extracurricular activities will not excuse a student from class.

Instructional Program

Credit Recovery is completed through an online curriculum. However, teachers are on site during credit recovery to assist students. .

For more information contact Nicky Larson, the Credit Recovery coordinator.

Civil Engineering –  3 credits

College-level Examination Programs

These courses will result in agreements between Red Wing High School and selected post-secondary schools in southern Minnesota that will provide curricula allowing advanced standing for students in post -secondary technical programs upon exam completion. There are a variety of courses in Agriculture, Business, Family & Consumer Sciences, Industrial Technology and Media Arts. Students can refer to the RWHS Program of Studies for eligible courses.

Post-Secondary Education Options (PSEO)

Post-secondary Education Options (PSEO)  is an opportunity for eligible high school students to enroll in college or university courses that earn credits simultaneously for both their high school diploma and their college degree.  Students should work with their counselor to arrange this to be sure all requirements are met before, during and after the course.

Accuplacer Tests

Community and technical Colleges require students to take placement tests.  Many use the Accuplacer test.  The results of these tests determine what level Math and English classes students will take at the college.  It is important to do well on these tests so students won’t have to take remedial classes.  There are websites that have information on these tests, one is College Board Accuplacer information.

What is PSEO?

The Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program allows public and nonpublic students in grades 10, 11 and 12 to earn college credit while still in high school through enrollment in and successful completion of college nonsectarian courses at eligible postsecondary institutions.

Each participating college or university sets its own admissions requirements. Eleventh and 12th-grade students may take PSEO courses on a full- or part-time basis; 10th-graders are eligible to enroll in PSEO on a more limited basis.

Students must meet the residency and eligibility requirements and abide by participation limits specified in Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.09.

Interested in learning more about PSEO?

Visit the Minnesota Department of Education PSEO webpage.

How to get started:

  • Watch the PSEO INFORMATION SESSION recorded Nov. 29, 2023, during RWHS fall conferences.
  • Visit Minnesota State College Southeast’s PSEO page.
  • Research what college you would like to do PSEO through and confirm if you meet their admissions requirements.
  • Notify your high school counselor by May 30 of your interest in doing PSEO,

All students in grades 8-12 are eligible to use the Red Wing High School Food Pantry, located near the nurse’s office. Students can talk to a counselor, teacher or the nurse to get connected, then will be sent home regularly with a discreet bag of food or self-care products as needed.

Students are kept anonymous, and there is no limit on how many times a student may use the pantry. No appointment is necessary.
