Three Rivers Community Action, Inc.’s Head Start/ECSE Early Childhood Partnership
Head Start is a quality child development program of Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. for preschool children and their families. In partnership, Head Start and Red Wing’s ECSE program offer a preschool experience primarily for 3-4 year olds and their families. The preschool classes run 3 ½ hours per day, four days a week. The program currently has the capacity to serve a total of 34 children, 17 children each in both a morning and afternoon program.
To be eligible for the current program year, the child must be 3 years old on or before September 1st. Families must live in Goodhue County and meet income guidelines. Opportunities are also available for children with special needs.
Children have an opportunity to work and play with other children their age, and practice skills they will need in kindergarten. The program provides a balance of active and quiet activities, as well as inside and outdoor play. For the family of a Head Start child, the program offers resource information and referral as well as assistance in meeting identified goals.
Every child receives a nutritious, balanced lunch and breakfast or snack which meets 1/3 to 1/2 of a child’s daily nutritional needs.
